Art is a great way of communicating messages on sustainable future and both natural and built environment.

Townsville City Council, in partnership with Perc Tucker Regional Gallery, has developed an “Art in School” programme involving primary and secondary schools of Townsville and encouraging them to produce exciting artworks relative to their local environment.

One of the most recent programs was an Ecotourism Puzzle Map that involved more than 350 students! The artwork was displayed in Perc Tucker Gallery for a month-as a complimentary event of the 2006 International Ecotourism Conference that was held in Townsville. See TCC’s webpage on Ecotourism.

Creek to Coral is currently running another Art in School program through the twin city “Capturing our Catchment from Creek to Coral” competition. Entries will be displayed at both the Perc Tucker Gallery and Riverway in August and September 2007.

You can take part in a Creek to Coral Art in School project!!
