Theme 5: Planning & Policies

Creek to Coral is developing planning and as part of its various processes and projects.

Planning

Improving water quality in the region entails new planning and design. Creek to Coral identifies natural features that need to be taken into consideration during planning processes, including sites’ topography, soils, geomorphology, drainage etc.
As an infrastructure-based project, Creek to Coral has an important planning role to play, including land use plans, flood control, maintenance of natural waterway corridors, stormwater management structures and treatment measures. An important planning component lays in Urban Water Management with innovative planning such as Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD).

Policies

Creek to Coral is developing a number of water policies to improve water quality across Townsville and Thuringowa waterways and deal with emergency incidents. These policies are essential to ensure an effective implementation of C2C’s projects and achieve C2C’s objectives. Policies are being developed as part of the various project components of Creek to Coral themes.
